One UI 3.1 with Android 11 is so smooth and attractive and is an icing on cake along with the specifications and the price given. Samsung M42 5G has come up with Quad camera setup with 48 MP with f/1.8 aperture as the primary sensor with 8MP Ultra wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture along with 5MP Macro camera with f/2.4 aperture and 5MP Depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture.

The primary sensor comes with 48MP but in default it shoots 12MP we have to choose 48MP to shoot in it. The main camera takes 12MP images with a lot of good clarity, high contrast, low noise, and a balanced dynamic range in daylight. There were some slight softness on the edges. If you take a picture with the maximum 48MP resolution, you’ll get images with even more clarity, better contrast, and more accuracy. So if one wants better details then switching to 48MP will be do the job.

The 8MP ultra-wide camera sensor performed admirably as well. The photos had enough detail and contrast, the noise was minimal, and the automatic distortion correction worked flawlessly. Colors were a little duller than we’d like and the dynamic range was lacking, but those were the only criticisms we had for the camera. Portraits were great, with explicit details, good contrast, and good subject separation. The artificial blur is quite well. The five-megapixel macro images were good.

Photos are slightly cropped and delivered at 8MP rather than 12MP. It also did an outstanding job of restoring highlights, showing more nuances in shadows, cleaning up noise, and enhancing contrast. In low light, the ultra-wide was less than the main camera, but if there was enough light, it could capture some usable images.

On the front we have 20MP camera for selfies it shoots at 12MP. Pictures from the front camera were decent and have good contrast, colors, and dynamic range were excellent when there was enough light. The detail degraded significantly in lower-light conditions.

The main and ultrawide sensors can shoot maximum up to 4K at 30fps. The 4K video from the primary camera sensor was accurate in terms of color, detail, dynamic range, and contrast. The 4K ultrawide video is decent. Due to noise reduction it misses out some details and the colors were a bit oversaturated.

Overall in video department, the quality looks fine, with good contrast and dynamic range. EIS is available on Primary cameras and wide camera and does a decent job, but it is only available while taking Full HD videos. There’s a 20MP camera in the front, but it just shoots in 12MP and the video quality is pretty decent .

Samsung M42 5G comes with 5000mAh battery with 15W adapter given inside the box. It takes around 2 hours to charge from 0-100%. The mobile on screen time is around 7 hours due to the HD display.
